At Davis's nine months appointment last Tuesday, I admitted to Dr. Knorr that Davis still wasn't sleeping through the night. The doctor said letting Davis cry it out was the fastest way to train him (which I knew but have struggled doing), and Russ and I decided to do it that night.
Davis cried for 1/2 hour trying to fall asleep, and then cried a couple more times during the night (once for an hour!), but we didn't go into his room. Amazingly enough, I was tough enough to be consistent this go around, and after a few days, Davis was sleeping for 10 hours with only crying out once or twice during the night for a few minutes each time. Finally, on Monday night, Davis went to sleep at 7:30 (which is early for him) and slept til 6:00. He only cried out once, at 9 pm for a minute! Yahoo!!!!
This is how he looked in the morning:

I'd say our sleep training was a success...
Except that....
Last night Davis went to bed at 9 pm, and woke up at 4 crying pretty hard. And I couldn't resist but go into his room and nurse him (partially because Russ had a rough day at work, didn't go to bed until 1:30, and I didn't want Davis to wake him up). Then he woke up at 5:30 too. I nursed him, he fell asleep in my arms, and then promptly woke up when I put him in his crib. So he was up for the day at 6:15. And I was exhausted (having gone to bed at midnight myself)! It's been a long day, but we'll see how tonight goes...
No matter what happens, at least I get to wake up to a super cute little kid in dinosaur pajamas!
