Choo Choo

A few days ago, I heard some noise in the kitchen. 

 

Davis looked a little guilty.

 And blind.

 (If for some reason he ends up blind later in life, I'm going to feel REALLY guilty.)

Davis looked like a deer caught in the headlights.

I'm not sure what he was trying to accomplish by dragging all the kitchen chairs into one place, but it made him happy (as evidenced by his foot obviously wagging in delight).

Kindermusik

Davis & I signed up for a Kindermusik class with Heather and Ellie.  We get to go once a week for about 3 1/2 months.  Heather took a few pics on the first day of class:

Davis is having fun in class, but he is not a fan of the songs where he is supposed to sit on my lap.  He much prefers running around as much as possible.  In fact, we missed class last week and got to do a "make up" with our teacher at her Saratoga Springs location (which is a dance studio), and Davis pretty much tried to run around the whole time yelling "ECHO! ECHO!"  He's obviously Russ's son..

Bye, Bye, Bye

Davis has a new favorite song... "Bye, Bye, Bye" by N*Sync.  Russ took his Venture Scouts (16-17 year olds) to his office a few weeks ago and made this music video for the YM/YW lip sync contest.  The rest of the groups did live lip syncs.  Most of the other groups were able to perform that night, but just as Russ pushed "play" to show this music video, the power went out (and stayed out for 6 hours)!  So they've put the video on YouTube.

Luckily we were able to have a little premiere at our houses with the Priests a few days before the ward lip sync contest.  They were quite pleased with how it turned out.

 
Now every time Davis sees my computer, he says "Bye Bye" and wants me to show him the movie.  Tonight as I held him to sleep, I asked him what song he wanted me to sing and he said, "Bye Bye.  Daddy." 

Evolution of a Sugar Cookie - by Davis

I helped mom make sugar cookies. 

She made me wear an apron, even though she doesn't wear one.

That's okay.  I like to wear aprons.

She let me help her roll out the cookie dough.

Except I helped by playing with flour

and a piece of bread.

I coated my bread thoroughly in the flour and then ate it.

All of it.

But not before I smashed it with my cookie cutter.

Yummy!

The next day my cousin EE came over to decorate the cookies.

He liked to play with my radio too.

He's got great moves.

I was very focused, and delicately frosted my cookie.

EE was very artistic and covered both sides of his cookie with frosting.

And then he didn't want to eat it.

But I ate my cookie.

 Every yummy bite.

It was much better than the flour bread I'd eaten the day before.

The Tent

As I have stated before, I am a bit of a toy nazi.  My mom gave me a cute toddler tent set, complete with binoculars, telescope, flashlight, compass, watch, camera, and a few other things.  My mom gave it to me while I was pregnant.  Davis is almost 21 months old.... We opened the tent on Thursday. Davis has had a bit of fun with it.

He likes to read inside the tent.

(He pulled a footstool to the entrance, put his book on top of it, and knelt by it to read.)

He likes to put his couch inside it too.

He also likes to throw it around a little bit.

But my favorite activity thus far was this:

Yes, he is sitting in a laundry basket inside his tent, watching a movie, and eating shredded cheddar cheese like it was popcorn.

Have you ever seen a band give their album the same title as their band name? I think it is because they don't know what else to call it.  This is also the reason behind the title of this post.  I've simply run out of creative juices tonight.

First things first.

It is my new favorite thing.

Davis really likes to color.  He is getting much better at focusing on coloring individual shapes in a picture -- of course he is a child prodigy due to my artistic abilities.  (Ha ha.)

He's also really good at holding a pencil. Most of the time he wants to color with colored pencils now.

Davis has a fascination with shoes...especially shoes that don't belong to him.

If you visit my house and leave your shoes in the entryway, I can guarantee at least one of them will be relocated to another room in my house.

His favorite pair of shoes?

These fashionable wedges.

They may or may not provide a slight tripping hazard.

I'm still wondering where he got his fashion sense...

At least his dad is teaching him something valuable as well:

Davis is still playing with his kitchen every day.  He is really digging the stool that came with it.  Although he is usually standing on the stool, I caught him actually sitting on it the other day:

He is wearing a backpack filled with toys.

Dinosaur Museum

In an effort to "do" more things with our kids, Heather and I took the kids to the Dinosaur Museum last week.  I was excited to let Davis play in the hands-on exhibits.  To my surprise, he didn't do much "hands-on-ing"at the erosion table.  He just ran from one side of it to the other, mostly watching the other kids.

 

 I'm pretty sure this tree is the only thing he touched. 

It made for pretty easy cleanup!

At the fossil excavation site, he had a little more fun.  He really enjoyed throwing the brush, flicking sand around with the brush (luckily not many kids were around), and running in the sand.

Overall, I'd say it was a success.

Venting (literally)

One of Davis's newest tricks is removing vent covers and putting toys down the vents.
