Montana -- Lasson Style

Have you seen those billboards along the side of the road that encourage you to visit Montana or Wyoming or California? Have you ever wondered if they work?  They do.  This spring, I saw one advertising Montana, and I thought, "We should visit Montana!"  So we planned a vacation for Labor Day week.  It was wonderful!!!

Russ bought this great trailer that allowed us to pack a few luxuries -- like our awesome stroller and golf clubs for Davis and Russ

 Davis got to ride in the third-row seating -- something he had only done once before -- and he was in heaven (although this pic just doesn't capture it...)

The kids were great travelers.  I was especially proud of Davis, who did not use any electronics the whole way to Montana (12 hours!).  In fact, we didn't even use them until 5 hours into our drive home.  Yeah!!!  It was awesome!

We stopped first in Helena at the home of our friends, the Spencers.  The parents weren't home (which we knew would be the case), but Kiera and Kaysen (and Grandpa Spencer and Daniel) were great hosts.  They treated us to a delicious breakfast and some great visiting.  I wish I'd been smart enough to take pics, but I wasn't.  Oops.  Thanks, Spencers!!

We stayed in Columbia Falls, at a little golf resort (Meadow Lake Resort) near Glacier National Park.  They hosted a hot dog roast for the guests, and we were the youngest ones there -- by about four decades!  So we opted for a picnic at the playground nearby...

We headed to Glacier National Park one day and took a few nature walks.

This trail was near Apgar village.

We also did a bit of scenic driving.

We took Going-to-the-Sun-Road to the summit -- breathtaking!

and made silly faces.

Trail of the Cedars was gorgeous!  It was a flat, boardwalk trail, perfect for running

Callie even stayed happy most of the time.

We were lucky that the Park was mostly open -- it was very late in the season.  We would love to go back again and explore more of the trails. 

The rest of our trip, we just did some local exploring and hanging out.  We went into Kalispell once and headed to Whitefish a few times (including a trip to a great BBQ place there).

We went to the chilly pool at our resort once.

We hung out at our condo and had a movie party with popcorn.

Davis was quite a golf sensation on the trip.  He had fun at the resort's putting green with Russ.  He used his driver to hit the balls from the rough across the whole green (he did this for about an hour straight).  He was doing a great job and turned a few heads.

We had a great time vacationing with our little family.  It is always so much fun to spend time together! We look forward to our next excursion.
