Papa Little

Davis calls my grandpa "Papa Little." Davis came up with the name by himself, and I think it is so adorable.  When we were at my mom's house a few weeks ago, Davis climbed into the rocking chair where my grandpa always sits when he visits, and Davis said "Papa Little."  So we called grandpa, and he came over to visit, much to Davis's (and my) delight!

Many times since that day, Davis has pretended to call "Papa Little" on his play phone.  We definitely love it when grandpa comes to play!!

One of my favorite things about my grandpa is that he loves to tell jokes and stories.  I love to hear him talk about his childhood growing up in Morgan.  One of my favorite stories is from his teenage years.  He was supposed to clear brush away from the cemetery's perimeter by using a controlled burn, but the fire became out of control and the fire department had to be called.  Grandpa got the nickname "Firebug Little" because of the event, and he even became student body president using that nickname!

I sure love my grandpa, and I'm proud to be his granddaughter!  We love you, Papa Little!

Playing in the Snow

Mom took me to Grandma's to play in the snow.
Grandma gets more snow than me because Santa likes her more.

Mom helped me get ready.
 I could barely see.
And I couldn't put my arms down.
Mom said something about "A Christmas Story."
Whatever that means.
My cousin Brett played in the snow with me.
Mom pulled us around in the sleds a couple of times.
But she got tired really fast because she doesn't exercise.
Brett had to borrow my girl cousin's snow pants.
They were pink.
It was funny.
 We had lots of fun.
February 22, 2011
But my mom spent more time bundling me up than we spent playing in the snow.
The End.

Mini Bowling

Mom has been trying to take me on adventures so that we don't get bored.
She says I get into trouble when I'm bored.
Or when I'm tired.
Or when I'm not tired.
Or when I'm not bored.

Mom isn't very good at posting about our adventures.

Once we went to Trafalga to mini bowl.
Mom and dad thought I would like it.
But I was bored.
So I started to get into trouble.
 So then dad held me.
 And then we left.
The End.

Ellie

This is Ellie.
I like Ellie.
 She likes me too.
She likes to give me hugs when her dad is not looking.
Her dad is the bishop, and he doesn't want her to date until she's sixteen.
Mom says I can't date until I'm sixteen too.
But we can still play in nursery.

We also like to go on adventures together.
We went to the farm a few weeks ago.
My mom accidentally ran over her sunglasses with our car when we left the farm.
Oops.
Oh well.  I probably would have broken them sooner or later.
The End.

Valentine's Day

This year I wanted to help make Valentine's Day extra special for mom and dad.
So I helped set the table for dinner.
After I was done helping take the tablecloth off the table, mom decided not to put any dishes on the table until we actually sat down to dinner.
I think mom and dad had a nice time.
I'm a great conversationalist.
And I'm always great entertainment.

A few days before Valentine's Day, I made special valentine pictures to take to some of my girlfriends in the neighborhood.
I wanted them to feel special too.
But I had to take them to lots of girls so that each individual girl wouldn't feel too special.
Mom says I can't steady date until after my mission.

Davis-isms

A few days ago Davis hauled the stool from his play kitchen into his bedroom.  He drug it in front of his closet shelves and stood on it to reach..... his shoes.  (This kid has a serious shoe fettish -- although he usually hates wearing his own.)  He didn't want to wear his everyday shoes or his "church" shoes (he even called them "church").  No, he wanted to wear the pair of shoes that was too small for his feet but that I'd been too lazy to rotate out of his closet yet.  I couldn't convince him the pair was too small.  So he wore them around all that day.  I bet his feet were relieved when it was finally bedtime!

Here are a few more things Davis has started to do lately:
  • Davis likes to lay on his tummy while he plays in the bathtub.  (He also likes to stand up in the bath.  A lot.)
  • Davis pretends his plastic toy cheese slice is actually the controller (or "troller" as he says it) to his helicopter ("copter"). He holds it out and pushes on it with his thumbs like a remote.  I guess all of that observation of grandpa flying his remote controlled helicopter has rubbed off on him.
  • Davis also like to play "crash" with his helicopter. He flies it around for a little bit (making appropriate sound effects).  Then he drops it on the ground and says "crash."  He also says "charge" (meaning it is time for the helicopter to recharge its batteries like grandpa's helicopter (By the way, Davis's helicopter has no batteries.)
  • Davis likes to fall asleep holding his tiny toy helicopter.
  • Davis likes to play with daddy's remote control helicopter.  He flies it for a few seconds, it crashes, he sets down the controller (daddy's rule), picks up the copter and hands it to daddy, and then takes the controller back and repeats his destructive cycle.
  • Davis has decided that he likes yogurt ("show-gut") sometimes and not at other times.
  • Davis is getting really good at singing the "rhyming words" of songs (usually the ones at the end of each phrase).  It always surprises me how many words he knows.
  • Davis's new favorite poem is one that my little sister Michelle learned as a kid.  Davis does a few of the actions and knows all of the rhyming words:
Little fishy in a brook.
Daddy catch it with a hook.
Mommy fry it in a pan.
Baby eat it like a man.
  • Davis makes sound effects while playing in his kitchen. He is especially good at sounding like the water faucet, the microwave, and oven timer.
  • A week or so ago, Davis and I played a little "game" for about 15 or 20 minutes: I gave him a fabric tomato, he ate it with a fork and then asked for more (so I gave him a different toy tomato and we repeated the game).  We did the same with a plastic cup and his kitchen faucet.  I can't believe it entertained him for that long!

  • Davis likes to play with his toys on top of the kitchen stools (although he is getting a little tall for that space as you can see from the pics).

  • Davis has started saying "I poop" after he has pooped (and sometimes he cries wolf while I am trying to put him to sleep -- just to stall).
  • Davis calls juice "jews."
  • Davis does fake cries and fake laughs.
  • Davis and I have had some fun building towers with his legos. Davis also like to pretend one of his two-bump megablock legos (not sure what the official term is) is a camera. He holds it up to his eye, takes a picture and then says "cute." I wish I had a pic of that!
  • Davis may have crushes on Tasha from The Backyardigans and Sally from the Cars movie.
